This one in Swedish

Hello

This time I'll write in Swedish. Hope you like it.

Mina 2 favorit dieter:

Enkelt. Kroppen vet innan du vet.

Recept:

Rödbetor med goda grejer:

Koka rödbetor kort stund

Smula get ost över

Stoppa in i ugnen tills osten smultit. Rödbetorna skall ha tuggmotstång i min åsikt.

Get osten är oftast bättre än ko osten. Mindre allergier.

Lycka till

Desert Essence

Darlings

Living a organic life eating organic, natural foods I love treating my body the best way inside out. So I use natural body care like natural deodorant, oils, moisturizer and lotion.
Desert Essence is my fovorite deodorant. You can find it at Gryningen natural food store in Stockholm and Whole Foods in New york city.

Another wonderful natural body care: Yummy love butter. Cold pressed organic coco nut oil. It's good for massageing, personal use, as a moisturizer after bath or shower. No staining and aromatic.

Avocado butter is fantastic for the face, usually you can find it at all natural food stores. Coconut oil is GREATE for a all over use.

Stevia? Is that a rock star...

Okey here commes the funniest question from a stranger and absolutely a stranger to Stevia. ¨Is that a rock star?¨

No, Stevia or sweetleaf, sweet leaf, sugarleaf. It's a herb or shrub in the sunflower family. The leaves can be eaten fresh or put in water and make tea of them. Is widely grown for its leaves in tropical Central America and South America. As a sweatener and sugar substitute, Stevias taste has a slower onset and longer duration than sugar. Some of it's extract have a bitter or licorice-like aftertaste at a high concentration.
It's 300 times sweater then Sugar.

Medical research has also shown possible benefits of stevia in treating obesity and high blood pressure. Because stevia has a negligible effect on blood glucose, it is attractive as a natural sweetener to people on carbohydrate-controlled diets. Also it's used as a sweetener in yerba mate and medicinal teas for treating heartburn and other ailments. It is also attractive for diabetics and others on carbohydrate-controlled diets.

This natural plant is used as a sweatener and comes as powder, or as a liquid. It's zero calories and 100& natural.
Rebiana is a trade name for a zero-calorie sweetener containing mainly the steviol glycoside which is extracted from stevia.

Use the liquid in cooking, dressings, baking or in tea or coffee. The powder in baking and tea and coffee as well. It's a special taste and verry sweat. I like it and even more when it's a good sweatener.

Brown rice, grounding food

Darlings

It's time for 2010 body (at least that's what it looks like at the gym) and exercise is nr 1. But what to eat? Exercise requires carbohydrates and the absolut best one is brown rice. Brown rice is grounding food and helps the sweet cravings away. Helps your mind to focus.

Here in Sweden many are staying away from the carbs to stay slim. I would call it low carb/high fat diet. For thouse who loves carbs and need them Brown rice is the best carb.

Brown rice is the clean natural rice without bleaching. Always wash rice and soak in water before preparing. It takes 45-50 min to slow boil brown rice so soak over night or for 15 min and the time will be halve.

Brown rice for breakfast is nice as well.

Detox

Hello Friends

After a Mexican party last night in Mexico Guadalajara I must say colonics would be great. After being here for a week and eating all this delicious Guacamole and Salsa I feel so stuffed.

Green juice and detox.

A personalized detox-cleansing in a relaxed peaceful enviroment. In Bali for ex. they have a few detox places.

WHY DETOX?
Many ‘thinking’ doctors agree that Intestinal cleansing and the correct nutritional balance is vital for maintaining Health & Vitality. Rid your intestines and colon of the years of amassed toxins and waste products. Restore your body's correct pH , balance your blood sugar and cholesterol, move towards your ideal weight.
To maintain high energy levels and a healthy vibrant body, we need to look beyond the current ‘fix it when it’s broke’ mentality. Cancer, heart disease, arthritis, neurological and autoimmune disorders are increasing at an alarming pace

Good luck

Greater than great

Hello my lovely spiritual friends.

Is this the year of change.? It feels like that. Good change. Great change greater than great.

My lovely spiritual friend told me "rain means change" "it grows, new and better". I like rain. It will rain here in New York city on Saturday....I can't wait.

It's still beautiful here. But stress is everywhere. Yesterday was a perfect day in NYC. People everywhere, jogging on the pavement, nicely dressed Wall street men walking fast with dry cleaning in one hand and a cell phone in the other talking and walking. Cars, bikes, yellow cabs, firetrucks. It's loud. A older man without shoes on is asking for money, the dressed up older women that spends hours in front of the mirror she looks the same every day with her red nails and mouth..... and me. I'm walking in slow motion compare with the rest of them. I'm thinking, is this quality life? Where are all the happy mothers. Where are all the not worried faces. Are they thinking about money? I do. It belongs to the city. The city that never sleeps. 24 hours a day you can get what you want, do whatever you feel like and never sleep.

It's fun. When your young, wild and crazy.
But I want quality life now. Wake up and the sun is shining, the air is fresh, ride my bike to to the coffee shop, read the morning paper, grocery shopping and then I don't know I'll see where the day takes me next. No worries about money. I feel safe. I trust.
It starts to rain. I see him.

LOVE

Love is any of a number of emotions and experiences related to a sense of strong affection and attachment. The word love can refer to a variety of different feelings, states, and attitudes, ranging from generic pleasure ("I loved that meal") to intense interpersonal attraction ("I love my boyfriend"). This diversity of uses and meanings, combined with the complexity of the feelings involved, makes love unusually difficult to consistently define, even compared to other emotional states. As we speak.......

As an abstract concept, love usually refers to a deep feeling of tenderly caring for another person.

¨I love you¨said in english does not mean the same said in Swedish in my opinion. I love you can be a ¨easy-said-love-word-or-good-bye-word¨ to a friend, in the beginning of a relation ship, to a stranger you just meet and like without the deepest meaning and power that ¨Jag älskar dig¨ has.

In NY people I work with loves me, my employer loves me, a person I just spoke to loves me. I love them back. But who do I älskar? Only the verry deepest love I feel, most common a lover or my spiritual twin sister and family.

I feel love for my 73 year old friend in NY, I feel love for my twin sister I saw yesterday and most important MYSELF.

I find it interesting with LOVE and how can it go away all of a sudden, how can it change....how can it show up even if I didn't notice when it happen. Hmmm

¨Life is like a classroom you learn all the time¨

¨I find love where ever I go it surounds me all the time and I give more then I receive¨ That's my philosophy.

Coffee???

I'm surpriced how much coffee swedes are drinking it's 4 cups a day that is a lot. In America they drink less coffee and more of the sweat stuff like sugar, milk, soy milk, cream and caramel stuff (I don't even know the name of the caramel stuff so I call it stuff or just sugar). In New York and the rest of America a starbucks coffee is so trendy and I see so many people walking around with a starbucks. It's a roler coaster life in my oppinion.

Coffe does not omly taste good it smells good as well. The whole making coffee process is nice as well.
Coffee good or bad?
Coffee Good:

:Coffee is rich in anti oxidantes.
:Parkinson's diseas. A number of studies have demonstrateed that regular coffee drinkers reduces the risk of Parkinson's diseas.
:Diabetes. Coffee drinking has the potential to protect against the development of type 2 diabetes
:Improved mental performance. Caffeine in coffee is a well-known stimulant. Coffee promotes alertness, attention and wakefulness. The cup of coffee can also increase information processing.
:Alzheimer's disease. Regular coffee drinking may help to protect against Alzheimer's disease
:Caffeine can open airways and improve asthma symptoms.

Coffee bad:

:Heart rhythm disturbances. Coffee can cause rapid or irregular heartbeats
:Heartburn. A cup of coffee can trigger heart burn
:Sleep. Most are aware of the stimulatory effects of caffeine. High amounts of caffeine taken before going to sleep can cause difficulty falling asleep, tendency to be awakened more readily by sudden noises, and a decreased quality of sleep.
:Dehydration
:Dependence. Although "generally recognized as safe" by the FDA, caffeine is still a drug, a mild central nervous system stimulant, and it produces dependence. Caffeine withdrawal is a real syndrome. You may get a few days of headache and irritability if you choose to quit drinking coffee, however, it is relatively easy to break this habit, and most people are not addicted to caffeine.
:Osteoporosis. Coffee intake may induce an extra urinary excretion of calcium.
:Stomache problems going too much to the ¨shit-house¨ or too less. Many people are using coffe to go, I was like that before I quit coffee.

In my country having a coffe brake is a every day thing for all of us. It has a name too FIKA is what we say. Normally with something to eat like a cake, cookie or chocolate. At friends houses or at a coffe place we have a FIKA. It's a Swedish tradition to have a FIKA.

I'm on my way now 9.45 am on a Sunday to have a tea at my favorite coffee place.

Till then

Indian sexy summer and thoughts about that

Hello lovers

The Indian Summer is here in Stockholm city.
Everyday I have long coffee brakes with my favorite friends
and talk about...nothing or just be quiet like on the pictures attached.
People are so f...... beautiful here in Sweden . Its true that Swedes are tall, strong, blond and beautiful.

I'm happily surprised that here is lovely organic, healthy food stores. They have everything.....coffee that is not coofee, sesame seeds with sea salt, tahini, miso, healthy power balls (nuts and died fruits) other wheat, yeast, sugar free cakes and so on. They also have a fab market on Saturdays. I love it here now. Beacause of the food and the Shakti carpet (small pic attached) I love it more here now.

The Indian Summer makes Swedes sexier, happier, more loving, love more, there is hope.... that the dark time is not here yet, me included.
Everyday I see smiling people drinking coffee in the sun at places that have out door service. At night time sexy people go out and drink and party out doors if possible.

New York verus Stockholm: NY city has the energy, insperation, the people, the crowd, the caracters, style, it's all lovely and fantastic. Stckholm has the beautiful calmness, nature and so friendly people. Very stylish and a lot of fashion that sometimes can look the same. Sometimes boring sometimes so much fun. Hard to say I love them both. The best of 2 worlds.

Birch sap champagne

YES its champagne from a big birch trea made in the north of Sweden. So cool and so good taste like the woods but champagne.

The story of this sap champagne is inetresting too: the recepy of this champagne is from the 17 hundred. The sap in the trea is only avalible after the snow has melt away and only in a short period of time. When trea is blooming the sap is gone. On the picture you can see the Sap champagne-guy taking the sap out from the trea.

I have taste it before and I must say it is champagne with a earthy, nature after taste.

Sea-buckthorn the Swedish Goji Berrie

Sea-buckthorn
is the Swedish Goji Berry in my opinion.

Sea-buckthorn is called the northers passion fruit. Its a bitter sour yellow berry. It grown widely from the Atlantic Oceans European coast to China. In West Europe it's grown by the water where the salty water splash up and make the earth salty. Sea-buckthorn likes that and becomes the only plant in that area.

Sea-buckthorn is normally a small bush or a small trea and can become 30 to 50 years old. It likes the sun...like any other Swede. Sea-buckthorn have been used as medecine in Asian for centuries.

Nutrients; Antioxidants that may effect inflammatory disorders like cancer or other diseases Its hight in vitamin C about 12 times greater than Oranges. Sea-buckthorn also contains carotein, vitamin E, many vitamin B, amino acids, diatary minerals and fats...

Swedes from the north are making juice, marmelade, tea, skin care, the oil for the skin is a old tradition to have a soft, healthy and glowing skin, oils for food or just eat them dried. It's yummy too. My favorite is the marmelade on top of a blue cheese. Or use the oil on my skin it's absolutely fantstic for the skin. This is a berry for a more beayful inside and out.

After a long days hard work....

What is better after this long days hard work on crowded streets of New York city? Yes Times Square for example very crowded and people went mad over the 2 cute Russian models. Not the very best location for Dutch Elle magazine.

So what is better after this long day? I would say coming home and have that Malbec from Argentina, the perfect glass. And if I still have some left of that raw chocolate bar I bought from one of my classmates at Integrative Nutrition, I would like some of that too. That's 2 things that makes my night like paradise. 2 small things and 2 tastes that are like music to my ears. That's how easy it is for me to enjoy my night. Shoes and socks off, feet on the table, maybe quiet maybe music, Malbec and raw chocolate. Mjauu.

In my previous published post you can read about how good red wine is.

HOME

Hello lovely people.
I miss home today. I miss my mother and my family that still lives there.
I was writing on face book to a old classmate, from when I was 7, he had post a picture of my city Härnösand and I wrote "I miss home" his answer was funny and true I guess. He wrote "go to web camera and you will see the same people as back in the days" I did see the same people at the same places as 2 years ago when I was there the last time. But I miss it anyway.

I feel just like me when I'm there. Just me. Without obligations, fashion (I dress up a little when I'm going to a bar), no crazy traffic (only on Saturday nights when the "raggare"= old American car fans but Swedish then, they are driving up and down at the main street with loud music, chicks and booze) , no schedules and no stress. Just nature, slow walking and a lot of humor, laughter and good old friends. I was a early bird to fly away from my town by the age of 19 I moved to the capital city of Sweden and lived there til I moved to New York I was 29 then. What a big difference??? Yea...it's huge but I love the contrasts and I have grown and became this person I am today. I learned the language better even though all Swedes are brilliant in English.

Before I always felt like my sister feels today coming back to our home town, bored. Some kind of stress I believe and I see that clearly now when I'm older and when I like where I'm at right now in my life.
I do believe that being with the older, my grandmother, who is my hero is when I learn the most, grow and love. That's what I love coming home. It's secure to come home. It looks the same, people are the same except there hair is different, all of them have babies now, they all remember me and say things like "isn't it a little too stressful in the big city" "too fast for me" I just smile. Because it's true. Too fast, too many people and too many "must dos".

I love placing my order about food I love my mother to cook for me. This time it's prickled herring, gravad lax, Swedish shrimps, cray fish, fresh picked potatoes and mothers rhubarb pie....yummy...
I'm leaving the 27th of this month I can't wait.

I will dream of my mothers food

I'm not getting fat.....

Hello all oils and avocado lovers.

As a huge salad eater in summer when the salad is fresh and fruits are ready to be eaten. The berries are so sweat and juicy. I have a lonely blueberry in my mouth right now picked in New Jersey.

Many of my friends and clients thinks that less fat in there body makes them skinnier or loose weight. But that is fantasies. It is actually the opposite. Your body needs oils and fats for the organs and also for digestion. Fats are Jin, grounding and protective. Use only unrefined oils. The fried food for example is not fat you want in your body.

Use the extra Virgin olive oil for cooking and the sesame oil for example, my favorite is Toasted sesame oil on top of my steamed vegetables or on my salad.

What about low fat products??? They have more sugar. Ex Low fat Milk, Yogurt and Drinks even crackers for children. So if you want to loose a little around the waist this summer stay away from low fat products.

I just had a table spoon of the toasted sesame oil on my morning salad and I feel great.
I thought when I was younger (17) that fat made med fat so I had dry salad with no good stuff on it. I call it today boring salad. I think a salad is all about the dressing, the good stuff. But I'm not getting fat when I have my morning tablespoon of toasted sesame oil.

Red wine good or bad

Hi every one

I'm a red wine drinker and love the red moment 5 times a week. 5 glasses a week is good for you regarding Walter Willett, M.D. he is a teacher, author of Eat, Drink and weigh less. Fantastic book by the way.
Drink alcohol in moderation (optional). A daily glass of wine, or any alcohol, is actually beneficial to health. THAT'S GREAT.

A glass of wine after a long day helps melt away stress and heightens the pleasure of a meal.In France for example they have daily glasses of wine and a low rate of heart disease. Researchers pointed to the red wine in there diet as the explanation. Yes and no. It's a combination of life style and diet.

There is truth behind the red wine theory. Studies have shown moderate consumption of alcohol does protect against heart disease and ischemic strokes it also protects against diabetes, gallstones and kidney cancer. Drinking alcohol raises levels of HDL cholesterol and reduces the formation of arterial blood clots, witch can cause heart attacks.

I love this ifo about wine, sins I listened to Walter I drink red wine almost daily, I feel good and happy. Not only red wine is beneficial for you white wine, beer any kind of alcohol.

Farms

Hello happy friends

I want to tell you about this experience.

After my last class at Institute of Integrative Nutrition we the honor of listening to Howard Lyman. He was a fourth-generation family farmer in Montana for almost 40 years. He speaks from a background of personal experience and he say that chemically based agricultural production methods today are unsustainable, and therefore ecologically disastrous. His experiences range from working in a large organic dairy to raising registered beef cattle to owning a large factory feedlot. He have farmed thousands of acres of grain and reproduced a herd of over one thousand commercial beef cows. In addition to raising cows, he have raised chickens, pigs, and turkeys.

HE was involved in agriculture at a time when the call dictated getting bigger
and better or getting out. He was educated in modern agriculture, and he can tell you from firsthand experience -- it is not sustainable. He followed all the modern advice and turned a small organic family farm into a large corporate chemical farm with a thousand range cows, five thousand head of cattle in a factory feedlot, thousands of acres of crops, and as many as thirty employees. He saw the organic soil go from a living, productive base to a sterile, chemical-saturated, mono-cultural ground produced by his so-called modern methods.

In 1979, he got tumor on my spinal cord caused him to be paralyzed from the waist down. That changed his life forever. He promised himself that, whatever the outcome of the surgery, he would dedicate the rest of his life to doing what he believed to be right -- no matter what changes that necessitated.

The period before and after the surgery gave him much time to think about the changes resulting form his methods of farming. Convinced that we were going the wrong way, he decided to become a voice for the family farmer and the land. In 1983, he sold most of his farm and started working for farmers in financial trouble. This led to his working for the Montana Farmers Union and from there to Washington, D.C. as a lobbyist for the National Farmers Union.

His story was so amazing and I had tears in my eyes. 1 man can change everything.
This is his words:

"The question we must ask ourselves as a culture is whether we want to embrace the change that must come, or resist it. Are we so attached to the dietary fallacies with which we were raised, so afraid to counter the arbitrary laws of eating taught to us in childhood by our misinformed parents, that we cannot alter the course they set us on, even if it leads to our own ruin? Does the prospect of standing apart or encounttering ridicule scare us even from saving ourselves?

That prospect intimidated me once, and I can only wonder now what I was frightened of. It's hard to imagine, now that I'm a hundred thirty pounds lighter, infinitely healthier, more full of life and energy, much happier. Now that I have vegetarian friends wherever I go, and feel part of a movement that is not so much political as it is a march of the human heart. Now that I understand how much is at stake. Now that I've come to relish shaking people up.

I would love to see the meat industry and the pesticide industry shaken up, too. I would love to see feedlots close and factory farming end. I would love to see more families return to the land, grow crops for our own species, and raise them organically. I would love to see farm communities revive. I would love to know that I've wandered into my nation's heartland by the sweet smell of grain and not the forbidding smell of excrement.

When you can't take it with you, all that really matters is what you leave behind."*

my day

Today has passed by so quickly I don't understand where the time goes. I started my day on Internet, emails, blogs, school, Swedish news paper and then off to the gym got myself a painful massage by my trainer. Lunch with Franny, good conversations and manicure. Then it was already 3.30. I had a glass of wine with a friend and then... the day was over.

It surprise me everyday in New York city to have days that pass by so fast. How can I make it slower? If I get up earlier? I already get up at 6 or 7 then it would be 5 and that's too crazy. If I get a baby I think I at least remember what I did yesterday. Its actually children that tell you how fast the time goes. Every time I go to my country and city I see the kids that looks like teenagers now and they where baby's the last time a saw them.
SO, I will try to do something I can remember everyday. See someone or talk to someone so I can remember that day. See something like an exhibition or a new house.

This day I will remember cuz I saw friends that I love and I'm writing this.

Dream, take action and change your life

Hello dreamers

I had a dream that came true...how many have had that? I'm a frequent day dreamer and love my dreamy world and if I try to step out of my safe, dreamy and romantic world I will not be me.
I love dreams and they inspire me to take action to the goal I see in my dream.

Some of us are living in the past and will never take steps forward because of that. I was one of them. Now I have changed and use my dreams and let them guide me to take steps forward in life.

Action speaks louder then words. True.

My way of changing from standing-still-at-one-place in life is Breath, Write and Take action. Change is good and you are changing all the time in your life.

That was my day dreams right now.

Diets don't work

Hello all

I was just thinking about diets to loose weight. They NEVER work. They really don't. From my own experience I have tried so many of them but no. I work in the fashion business and I see the obsession about being slim, skinny and beautiful. This is my honest opinion: BEAUTY COMES FROM THE INSIDE and it's a ever lasting.
There are so many diets on the market now and they have all very funny names 5 days diets, 3 days diet and even 1 hour diet....how ever that works I totally believe in the 1 hour diet....... He he.
I believe in the normal diet. Eat when hungry, eat whole grains, vegetables and fruits and protein exercises and sleep well. What you eat you become so stay away from the sugar, wheat and some soy products. Treat your body with love, care and teat your self the very best way.

Emotional eating: Ben there done that. It's so easy to talk about it now after knowing what that was when I thought that food could salve my problems. I was using food to fill the void that food can not. I started to really question myself "what was I hungry for" it helped me.

These days I eat when I'm hungry and my body have never felt better-

Sugar and it's addiction

Hello beautiful people.

Right now Americans eat 100 pounds of sugar and 8 pounds of broccoli. Interesting. The USDAs recommendation for Americans is to not have more then 10 teaspoons of sugar but Americans have 30 teaspoons of sugar. America is the fatest people in the world and about half of America are over wight. Scary right????

I see people every day walking around with a Starbucks "whatever sugary coffee drink" they are drinking. The blood sugar goes up and down for them. Like a roller coaster.

We all know that sugar gives us some kind of discomfort. We also know that it gives us a fast energy that shoots up to the roof and then we drop down really hard. We all have our own relationship with sugar. But it's not the sugar that is the problem it's the solution at that moment that is the problem. Meaning you lost your energy and need fast energy normally that is sugar or can it be something else you craving? Really ask your self what you are craving. Is it comfort is it a hug from your sweetheart or is your diet not balanced? These are what it can be. Only you know.

So ask yourself "what am I craving now" and really try to understand what it is. Find better food to crave then sugar. Like nuts, dried fruits etc.

So that was all this Monday.

With love C

Stay happy.

Our Earth we should take care of it

Hello everyone
It's summer in New York, I'm going to the beach today and dying to get away from the city. I just came back from Mexico city and I was blown away by the pollution that was making me so sick. It was beyond "having a cold".

So pollution is wind blown chemicals that even makes the trees dye. Bacterias are easily spread with this toxic pollution cloud 61 people dyed so far. I'm happy I'm alive.

This is what I read: If Mexico City don't do anything about this the temperature will be warmer with 3 degrees... Mother nature is saying no, we should listen.

Being there and see all of this and the White powdery cloud that was over the city every morning and night and how I felt made me think "what are we human beings doing with our world". Is this how I want the planet to be for the next generation, my children??? NO.

So I will stop buying plastic water bottles and buy a water cleaner instead. And living in NY city is polluted as well so a air cleaner would be something to consider as well.

I HAVE NEVER MISSED THE NATURE THIS MUCH BEFORE.

Raw every other week...

Hello food and fashion lovers.....

Being raw is not easy when working as a hair and make-up artist and get greasy, fried cater food ever day.... Hmm...I just eat the salads and the over cooked carrots. That is how

close I can

get to raw on weekdays. So I call my diet "raw every other week". The weeks when I'm not working it's raw.

I travel often in my work and then it's hard again, going to new countries I never been before and there food culture. But i figured that I can make my own trail mix and bring with me and a salad to eat on the plane and so I did. Goji berries, almonds, inca berries, raw cacao and cashews great for a couple of days "on the road" then I can always find a carrot somewhere...

As a make up artist I have tried all different types of skin care. For my skin I can put on anything from body lotion, olive oil or nothing, my skin is really good. But now I have found something that feels so good for my skin and also I know exactly what I put on my skin. Bee Yummy skin food. It's bee pollen, honey and oil. Tings I can eat and who would not like to eat there skin care..... Anyway, skin food is a great cream. Really recommend this skinfood.

So you can make your own skin care at home with avocado, olive oil, cucumber and honey I'm not joking I think it really works. I will try and then I will let you know.

WATER like everybody already knows is very good for the skin. I drink at least 2 1/2 big bottles every day. The body is made of 75% water and the brain 85% so that makes me realize how much water I need.

Today this rainy Wednesday I had a quick lunch at Bonobos. No people this time but still so tasty.

Till then
